Tracing – String Demo

Loosely based on the song, Tracing – which we recorded on the first Saint Ophelia album – I created this string arrangement demo in Logic Pro using a Korg T1 as a midi source. I was playing with the software and experimenting with the library of sampled sounds when I discovered it actually scored the music! I play by ear, so this revelation floored me. I can now play my father’s old synthesizer, and produce actual sheet music of the parts I hear in my head. This is how I scored and recorded the strings on Looking for Free, on the second Saint Ophelia album, which featured Annie Roberts on cello, Sarah Pearman on violin, and Elena Zalevska on viola.

These are fake cello and violin parts which will be replaced with real people playing real instruments sometime in the near future.
